By now you realize that Splice works entirely with Creative Commons licensing. We wanted to thank the guys at Creative Commons for the mention in their blog today, and also to say hello to all the new users from CCMixter. Welcome!

Due to popular demand, we’ve made it even easier to register for Splice. Simply choose your name, confirm your email and then jump right in to start making music. Don’t see yourself on the front page? It’s because you haven’t uploaded a photo yet! Don’t be shy - show us your smiling face! And remember, people who make new songs are always listed on the front page as well…

Have you noticed it’s getting a little crowded in here? Invitations are no longer required to join Splice and our membership is growing quickly! Of course, this shouldn’t stop you from telling your friends about us, and it’s easy to do. You can enter someone’s email address in the invite box on your profile page and we will let them know you’re here. When they sign up, you’ll automatically be friends!

You might have noticed some big changes around here. We’ve been working hard to bring you new features. You can rate the things you hear now, and you can also save them to your Favorites so that it’s easy to find them again. Our seach page has gotten prettier and the new sequencer toolbar really makes it easier for you to make songs. We wanted to thank everyone who has been hanging out with us during this first phase of building. If you check out your profile, you will notice that you can now invite some of your friends to come and make music with you. Just enter their email address and when they sign up you will automatically be friends. Don’t worry if you use them all up - we’ll give out more from time to time.
